Lunarpages New Website Design

It is 2009 and it is a brand new start for all the web hosting providers. Lunarpages is not exceptional as well.
Lunarpages has just redesigned their website and now they have a better and more professional interface. Also, it is worth noting that the new design including site navigation is made for solution-based purposes. This is to serve the customers better in searching the best solution for their hosting needs. Their new design does improve on several things:-
- More professional interface
- Easier navigation through all the web pages
- Inclusion of more great support resources
- The better looking community section
- Easier access to the free webmaster tools
- Quick overview on the current special deals
Personally I think the design is great. However I feel that the word font being used is a bit “weird”. Perhaps I am not used to it yet. Anyway, well done Lunarpages for the great design!

Lunarpages Domain Name Server (DNS)
There are 2 scenarios when you first sign up Lunarpages web hosting, 1) you register your domain name with Lunarpages which acts as your primary domain name, 2) you register your domain name at other place like GoDaddy.
In scenario 1 you do not need to do anything on DNS settings as Lunarpages by default will set up the account for you. In scenario 2 you will need to modify your DNS so that your domain name points to the correct location of your files.
So when you first sign up, there is a welcome mail from Lunarpages informing you about your DNS. What you need to do is to modify the DNS in your domain registrant account. After that it take 24 to 48 hours for the DNS to be fully effective and your website will be live to the world then. Therefore DNS is the key to the correct redirecting your domain name to your files. So it is important to have your DNS recorded. The same process will need to be done when you have any add on domain later.
However, if you lose your DNS, you can always contact Lunarpages support to retrieve it. For your information, the DNS of Lunarpages looks something like this:-
- ns1.lunarservers.com
- ns2.lunarservers.com
The DNS above is for example purpose; yours will be contained in your welcome mail.

Lunarpages Speed Test: How Fast Are They?
Accessing speed is always one of the concerns in picking web hosting. This is because the faster the speed the faster your website loads thus providing a better experience to your visitors. The accessing speed also does somehow reflect the quality of technology being used in the server. This is because a more accurate data transfer will result in lesser re-transfer and thus quicker speed.

Therefore how fast the download speed of the web hosting is a frequent asked question by most of the potential subscribers. They want to make sure their visitors have a pleasant time with them and have their website loads as fast as possible. Seeing the importance of the access speed, a web hosting company should invest their biggest portion in ensuring the quality of connection no matter what.

Lunarpages in this case has actually done a good job. What they have done is to place their datacenter in one of the most high tech building in the world – AIS, San Diego. The technology and support in AIS are unquestionable including redundant power, redundant network, 24/7/365 support and etc. Perhaps this is the reason behind great speed and stable performance.
It sounds fishy though just to claim how fast and stable Lunarpages is. Therefore a speed test page is actually set up to prove that they are actually achieving it. After all, action speaks louder than words.
You can try downloading a variety of data of size 1MB, 5MB, 10MB, 50MB and 100MB from that test page. They are all zip files just for speed test purpose. From the download speed you will be able to justify my claim on Lunarpages. Be rest assured that the files are clean and virus/trojan free (I have done it personally).
For the purpose of comparisons, I am using a 512MB broadband internet connection and I’m from Asia. I downloaded the files during day time (suppose to be the peak time of internet traffic in my area). And the time I needed to get the 1MB file is 50seconds which is roughly 22 kB/second. The number is not very impressive though but seeing the peak period, my location and speed of connection I am using, I think the speed is awesome.
