Lunarpages Sucks?

October 30th, 2008 @ 9:34 am Tagged with , , , ,

Lunarpages Sucks?

As a nature of business, it is certain that not 100% of customers will satisfy with a service. In Lunarpages web hosting, some subscribers think they have done a good job while some other subscribers have had a bad experience with them. And it is not difficult at all to find negative comments and complaints when you google Lunarpages review. Complaints about website deletions, rude customer supports, unstable up time and etc are easily available. Perhaps Lunarpages web hosting is really a bad host? And this is making Lunarpages to be infamous and further downgrade in their service?

To me, I try not to judge a web hosting just by their users review. This is because I believe a web hosting service (in fact every services in the world) is impossible to please each and every customers. Servicing is something very subjective and it is not easy to measure. How rude is rude for a customer support? I am sure everyone has their own definitions.

Lunarpages web hosting somehow remains as a quality hosting for me though I have read many complaints and agree that their experiences are horrible. (And I believe the stories are real and they have no reasons making up the stories) This is mainly because I do not have any experience that is considered as bad with Lunarpages after hosting with them for 3 years. So I thought what has gone wrong there? I have somehow come out with some find out.

While reading the complaints, I have realized a commonality among the reports. Most of the reports are written and filed a few years ago which I think they are no longer valid today. As web hosting is a tech-based business and obviously web hosting is improving from time to time. I am sure Lunarpages has learnt about their mistake (if any) and has improved a lot. Even Intel has gone into Quad core processors. There is no way Lunarpages is still running on Pentium III. Therefore if you got a chance in reading one of those reports, perhaps you should take a closer look at the date of writing.

Lunarpages is aggressive in their business all this while. They are alert from time to time on their market and hardware needs. They have recently upgraded their servers and have moved their data centers to American Internet Service (AIS), San Diego. AIS is one of the most prestigious buildings in the world with comprehensive facilities. Redundancy is a key concern in AIS and I am sure our data is well guarded with redundant OC48s and OC192s connections, redundant power supply, redundant data center and even redundant HVAC system. Clear enough if Lunarpages is not serious with their business they will not invest such an amount of money to upgrade their servers.

On top of the upgrades I am pretty surprised that Lunarpages does not increase their hosting charges. (Because I thought they want to cover back their initial cost of the new facilities) What is more surprising is that Lunarpages actually lower down their monthly charges! Lunarpages decreases the subscriptions fee even though they have better facilities now. So I think they are really aggressive in providing a quality web hosting.

That is how I see Lunarpages and those are the reasons why Lunarpages remains as a quality hosting for me. Although there are complaints on the hosting (which hosting companies do not have?) Lunarpages is working aggressively in improving themselves. It is undeniable Lunarpages is losing up the hosting market but that has nothing to do with providing quality services. (Perhaps Lunarpages is losing up in marketing?) And people are saying Lunarpages sucks? I seriously doubt it.

Please share your thought with me.

How Soon Can My Website Goes Online With Lunarpages?

September 30th, 2008 @ 1:30 am Tagged with , ,

Basically once you have clear the payment, almost immediately your website can go online.

The process works like this:
First you pick the hosting plan. For example the Basic Plan for one year subscription. Then you will need to fill up a subscription form which takes you more or less 15 minutes. Once you complete your subscriptions form, it will lead you to the payment page. A total of $59.40 will be charged to you (1 year fee). Once the payment is processed successfully, you will get an email with your critical information. By then, you are ready to upload your files. You could now either upload your files through the cPanel or through FTP software. Simply connect to your hosting with your username and password. You can start uploading your files into a folder named public_html.

If you are moving from other hosting to Lunarpages, once you get your critical information, you need to change the DNS server name at your domain registration portal. Once you set up the DNS, allow 1 or 2 minutes of buffer before your website goes online. For worldwide access, it might take up to 24 – 48 hours. This is because the DNS need some time to shift from your previous hosting to the new one.

What Are The Latest Promotions?

September 27th, 2008 @ 8:46 am Tagged with , , ,

Lunarpages has recently gone unlimited with their storage, bandwidth and add-on domain. Lunarpages subscribers can now store files and data without limit. In fact they have already been giving the best with the previous features (15,000Gb storage and 15Tb bandwidth) but apparently they are not satisfied with themselves and has now gone unlimited. Besides the huge storage and bandwidth, Lunarpages now allow unlimited websites with add on domain hosted in one account. For usual most of the providers only allow 10 to 20 domains.

Free software worth of $775 is another selling point for Lunarpages. This bonus is just added into the hosting plan recently. They name this bonus as CoffeeCup which includes HTML Editor, Flash Form Builder and other Web Design Software. It definitely help those new webmaster in getting a well designed web site.

Not only they added additional features, Lunarpages has lowered their monthly charge as much as 40% to $4.95/mo (previously $6.95). It is unbelievable as you get extra but your pay lesser. Unfortunately the price $4.95 is only available for 12 months and 24 months subscriptions but I think that is fair enough.

For more information you could pay a visit to Lunarpages official website.

What can you get from Lunarpages?

Something that I have stressed enough - a quality support.
What differ this California web hosting company from others is the supports that they are providing. Lunarpages provides all sort of supports from email, telephone to ticket sumitting. They also have a good FAQ sessions. Actually having these features is nothing great about them but what is impressive is their speed in responding to the queries which I call it “an effective customer support”.

Lunarpages Review

Lunarpages is definitely committed in serving their customers. Why am I so confident? Because I myself am their customer for more than 3 years. I have several websites hosted with them including this one. I am satisfied with their service and have no complain. Although I gave only a “9 out of 10″ to them is because I hope they will not settle for what they have achieved now. The remaining 1 point deducted is with the hope that they will continue striving for the best of the best. View my full Lunarpages review.

Lunarpages Basic Plan

The Specifications of Service

Previously they are still providing limted storage(1500Gb) and bandwidth(15Tb) but they have now gone UNLIMITED. It is officially published in their website. You can now store as much data as you like and no worries on your traffic volume. On top of that you get an absolutely FREE domain.
Also upon fall, every new signed-up customer is entitled to enjoy a $775 dollars worth of Free Sotrware. I do not know how useful of them to you but for me, I love using these 4 out of many - Gafana Spam Blocking, DMXReady’s Contact Us Manager, Photo TurboBackup and Logo Creator. You can learn more about the free bonus here.

The Fall Promotions

Yes. It is officially started. Lunarpages is now doing promotions that they have revised their price and specsifications to a even more competitive package. As mentioned above, unlimited storage and bandwidth, free domain and unlimite add on domains which means you can host as much website as you like. And on top of all of these extra benefits, the pricing is only $4.95/month which is 20% lower han before! It is definitely a bargain! I seriously wonder will this promotions apply to those existing customers because I have already tied up for 2 more years with them! Argh..

How long will the promotions last?

I have seriously no idea. They name it Fall Promotions. How long you are expecting Fall will last? With the global warming issue nowadays, it is really unpredictable, don’t you think so?
